Education Law

The education sector is covered by a number of legal practice areas - employment law, human rights and privacy, public law issues (notably stand downs, suspensions and exclusions) as well as aspects of contract law and the application of statutes and regulations.

My practice has been to provide advice and representation in these practice areas including:

-      Judicial review and interlocutory applications to the High Court

-      Ombudsman and Privacy Commissioner complaints and investigations

-      Human Rights claims

-      Teachers Council Complaints Assessment Committee investigation and Tribunal hearings

-      Contract disputes with suppliers to schools

-      Drafting of contracts and policies/procedures.

I have been associated with the Secondary Principals Association of New Zealand (SPANZ) and currently provide advice to secondary principals through SPANZ and to school boards
